Terms of Service
Effective Date: February 26, 2025
Article 1 (Purpose)
These Terms of Service establish the terms and conditions for the use of internet services (hereinafter referred to as the “Service”) operated by The Korean Today Global Media Network (hereinafter referred to as the “Company”), as well as the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between the Company and users.
Article 2 (Definitions)
The definitions of terms used in these Terms of Service are as follows:
- “Service” refers to all internet-based services provided by the Company to users.
- “User” refers to members and non-members who access the Company’s Service and use the Service provided by the Company in accordance with these Terms of Service.
- “Member” refers to a person who has registered as a member by providing personal information to the Company, who continuously receives information from the Company, and who can continuously use the Service provided by the Company.
- “Non-member” refers to a person who uses the Service provided by the Company without registering as a member.
- “Content” refers to various information such as articles, images, videos, etc., provided by the Company through the Service.
Article 3 (Effect and Amendment of Terms of Service)
- These Terms of Service apply to all Users who wish to use the Service.
- The Company may amend these Terms of Service for purposes such as reflecting changes in relevant laws or changes in the Service, and the amended Terms of Service will take effect upon posting within the Service.
- Users may request to terminate their membership if they do not agree with the amended Terms of Service, and continued use of the Service will be deemed as agreement to the amended Terms of Service.
Article 4 (Provision and Modification of Service)
- The Company provides the following services:
- News and information content provision service
- Regional culture, social, and economic information
- Communication features between members
- Other services provided to users through additional development by the Company or partnerships with other companies
- If there are changes to the content, usage method, or usage time of the Service, the Company will specify the reasons for the change, the content of the Service to be changed, and the provision date within the Service.
Article 5 (Service Usage Time)
- In principle, the Service is provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- The Company may temporarily suspend the Service for system regular maintenance, expansion, and replacement, and in the case of service interruption due to scheduled work, the Company will notify in advance within the Service.
- However, the Company may temporarily suspend the Service without prior notice or warning in the following cases:
- In case of urgent system inspection, expansion, replacement, failure, or malfunction
- In case of unavoidable circumstances such as national emergency, power outage, natural disaster, etc.
- In case normal use of the Service is hindered due to a surge in service usage, etc.
Article 6 (Membership Registration)
- Users apply for membership by filling out member information according to the registration form determined by the Company and expressing their intention to agree to these Terms of Service.
- The Company will register as members those users who have applied to become members as in paragraph 1, unless they fall under any of the following cases:
- If the applicant has previously lost membership qualification under Article 7 of these Terms of Service
- If there are falsehoods, omissions, or errors in the registration content
- If it is deemed that there are significant technical difficulties in registering as a member
- Membership registration is effective at the point when the Company’s acceptance reaches the member.
Article 7 (Member Withdrawal and Loss of Qualification)
- Members may request withdrawal from the Company at any time, and the Company will immediately process the member withdrawal.
- If a member falls under any of the following reasons, the Company may restrict or suspend membership qualification:
- If false information was registered at the time of application
- If damage is caused to other users
- If acts prohibited by law or these Terms of Service or acts contrary to public order and morals are committed using the Service
- If it is deemed inappropriate to maintain membership qualification for other reasons
- After taking the necessary measures such as restriction or suspension of membership qualification according to paragraph 2, if the same act is repeated or the cause is not corrected within 30 days, the Company may terminate the membership contract.
- When the Company terminates the membership contract, the member’s registration will be deleted. In this case, the Company will notify the member in advance and give them the opportunity to state their opinion.
Article 8 (Protection and Use of Member Information)
- The Company will comply with relevant laws such as the ‘Personal Information Protection Act’ regarding the protection of personal information of members. The protection and use of personal information shall be governed by the relevant laws and the Company’s Privacy Policy.
- The Company may restrict the use of the Service for members who provide false information or register other people’s information.
- The Company will not disclose or provide member information to third parties except in the following cases:
- When there is consent from the member
- When it is required by law
- When it is required by investigative agencies for investigation purposes according to procedures and methods prescribed by laws and regulations
Article 9 (Member’s Obligations)
- Members shall not perform the following acts:
- Registration of false information when applying or changing information
- Theft of other people’s information
- Changing information posted by the Company
- Transmission or posting of information (computer programs, etc.) other than information designated by the Company
- Infringement of intellectual property rights of the Company or third parties
- Acts that damage the reputation of the Company or third parties or interfere with business
- Disclosure or posting of obscene or violent messages, images, voice, or other information contrary to public order and morals
- Acts prohibited by other laws
Article 10 (Posting of Information)
- The Company does not intervene in the information, data, conversations, etc. posted by users and is not responsible for the content.
- The Company is not responsible for the consequences of users’ service use.
- The responsibility for information posted by users lies with the user who posted it, and the user shall bear civil and criminal responsibility for problems arising from the posted information.
- The Company is a medium and not a producer of information, and is not involved in the creation of information provided through the Service.
Article 11 (Copyrights)
- Copyrights and other intellectual property rights for works created by the Company belong to the Company.
- Users shall not use information obtained through the Service provided by the Company for commercial purposes or allow third parties to use such information by reproducing, transmitting, publishing, distributing, broadcasting, or other means without prior consent from the Company.
- The Company respects the copyrights of others. If a user infringes on the copyrights of the Company or others, appropriate measures, including restriction of service use, may be taken.
Article 12 (Compensation for Damages)
- The Company shall compensate for damages suffered by users due to intentional or negligent acts of the Company.
- Users shall compensate for damages suffered by the Company due to violations of these Terms of Service.
Article 13 (Exemption from Liability)
- The Company is exempt from liability if it cannot provide the Service due to natural disasters or equivalent force majeure.
- The Company is not responsible for disruptions in the use of the Service due to user’s fault.
- The Company is not responsible for the reliability, accuracy, etc. of information, data, facts posted by users.
- The Company is not responsible for damages caused by users’ service use.
Article 14 (Dispute Resolution)
- The Company will establish and operate a damage compensation handling department to receive and process users’ legitimate complaints and handle damages promptly.
- For disputes arising between the Company and users, an arbitration body established according to the relevant laws may be applied.
- The governing law for disputes arising in connection with the Service shall be the laws of the Republic of Korea.
- Lawsuits filed against the Company regarding disputes between the Company and users shall be decided by the court having jurisdiction according to the Civil Procedure Act.
Article 15 (Miscellaneous)
- These Terms of Service shall be effective from February 26, 2025.
- For matters not specified in these Terms of Service, the provisions of the relevant laws shall apply.
